The Wellow Millennium Green

The Wellow Millennium Green or to give it its full name the Harry Bright Millennium Green was gifted to the community through a trust called the ‘Wellow Millennium Green Trust’ which is registered with the Charities commission under charity number 1067998.


The site is situated on Top Road just 2 miles out site of Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.


The site was gifted by the Bright family to the community in 1998
The field includes an orchard which was planted to commemorate the Armistice at the end of the First World War.
In 2018 the Green was awarded an £8000 grant to create a path and the commemorative orchard.


In June 2022 the Green lite its Beacon as part of the Nationwide lighting of Beacons to commemorate 70 years of service Queen Elizabeth the Third.


The Millennium Green works very closely with the Wellow Literary Institute.
In 2023 The Millennium Green celebrated another Royal occasion with the Coronation of King Charles the Third

The charity’s objective is defined as:
“The trustees shall hold the trust fund and its income upon trust to apply them to provision of the property and shall accordingly hold any property to provide and maintain an open space to be known as “Harry bright Wellow Millennium Green” for the benefit of the inhabitants and to be used forever as an area for informal recreation play or other leisure-time occupations a meeting area or place for community events and for any other lawful purpose consistent with these trusts and for the general benefit of the community”
